Nepal wedding season: a bridal makeup timeline
Planning bridal makeup for a Mangsir, Magh or Falgun wedding in Kathmandu: when to book, trials, skin prep, and what to tell your artist.

Most weddings in Nepal happen in a few auspicious windows: Mangsir, then Magh and Falgun, and again in Baisakh and Jestha. That means the best makeup artists in Kathmandu are booked by many brides for the same dates. Planning early is the difference between choosing your artist and taking whoever is free.
Two to three months before
- Choose your look. Newari bridal with haku patasi, a red and gold lehenga, a soft modern bridal look, or a different look for each event.
- Shortlist artists from their real work. Look for brides with a similar skin tone and outfit to yours.
- Book your date. For Mangsir weddings, aim for 6 to 8 weeks ahead at the latest.
Four to six weeks before: the trial
A trial look is worth it. Wear something close to your wedding colours, and take photos in daylight and with flash.
Tell your artist:
- Every event and its timing: mehendi, wedding, reception
- Your outfit, jewellery and how the saree or lehenga will be draped
- Anything your skin reacts to
- Whether they will come to your home and how early
Skin prep, starting now
Winter wedding season means dry air. Steady care works better than trying something new the week before.
- Keep a simple routine: gentle cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen in the day
- Do not start strong new actives or facials in the last two weeks

On the day
Leave more time than you think. Bridal makeup with hair and draping usually takes two to three hours. Keep a small touch-up kit with the lip colour, blotting papers and a little powder.
